The internal combustion LHD is a widely used loading and hauling machine for underground mines, powered by an internal combustion engine. Its whole working process relies on the coordination of power system, hydraulic system, transmission system and walking mechanism to complete material scooping, transportation and dumping.

The internal combustion engine serves as the power source. It outputs rotational power, which is transmitted to the hydraulic pump and travel drive system. The hydraulic pump converts mechanical energy into hydraulic pressure energy, providing power for the bucket, boom, steering and braking actuators. The travel drive system transfers power to the wheels to realize forward, backward and turning movements of the whole machine.

During the loading phase, high-pressure hydraulic oil pushes the boom cylinder and bucket cylinder. The bucket is lowered to contact the material pile. With the traction force of the wheels, the bucket inserts into the ore or rock pile. Then the bucket cylinder acts to curl the bucket to hold materials, followed by the lifting action of the boom cylinder to raise the bucket away from the ground.

For transportation, the machine shifts to the travel state. The engine provides continuous driving force for moving along underground roadways. The hydraulic steering system controls the direction flexibly to adapt to narrow tunnels. After arriving at the unloading point, the bucket cylinder reverses to tilt the bucket, and materials slide out by gravity to finish dumping.

A dedicated exhaust purification system is equipped to treat engine emissions, adapting to confined underground spaces. The whole operation is controlled by hydraulic valves. All actions cooperate sequentially. With stable power output and strong climbing capacity, the internal combustion LHD can keep continuous operation in harsh mine environments. It has become a common material handling equipment for underground mining.
